About the role:

This dual role focuses on both sustainability and commercial law for EMEA. You will provide legal advise on European and international environmental regulations while also supporting a business division with commercial legal matters. In collaboration with leadership and the legal team, you will manage legal projects, oversee outside counsel, and handle litigation, playing a key role in the legal department.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing legal guidance on EU and international environmental laws, sustainability frameworks (e.g., EU Green Deal, CSRD, CSDDD), and ESG regulations, while implementing proactive global regulatory tracking.
  • Monitoring regulatory changes, advising on emerging sustainability laws, and collaborating with teams to align business operations and corporate governance.
  • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex contracts, including sustainability-focused agreements (e.g., supplier contracts, SaaS, licensing, and service agreements).
  • Supporting sustainability disclosures and ensure compliance with global ESG reporting frameworks (e.g., GRI, TCFD, ISSB).
  • Acting as a strategic legal advisor to business teams, offering guidance on commercial, regulatory, compliance, and corporate matters, including contracts, disputes, ESG, IT, marketing, and employment.

About you:

  • European-qualified lawyer with an LLM or equivalent qualification, membership of a European bar would be a strong advantage;
  • At least 7 years of post-qualification experience in environmental, sustainability, and commercial law.
  • Strong understanding of sustainability and ESG regulations, with experience advising on corporate sustainability strategies.
  • Experience in litigation and dispute resolution, including court systems, arbitration, mediation, and dispute negotiations.
  • Skilled in managing regulatory matters to support business objectives.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in English.
