Our client, an international sports governing body, is seeking a Compliance and Risk Manager to join their Legal and Compliance team in Miami, FL. The candidate will play a pivotal role in establishing and maintaining a robust compliance and risk management framework. This position reports directly into and works closely with the Head of Risk and Compliance, acting as their number two and business partner.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Head of Risk & Compliance in the continuous development and implementation of risk management framework.
  • Support in the continued development and maintenance of compliance policies and procedures.
  • Promote a compliance culture and awareness by advising staff and conducting trainings in relevant compliance topics. Deliver tailor-made compliance training and continuously ensuring that trainings are adapted to the needs of the organization.
  • Conduct internal and external investigations as well as forensic reviews to identify mismanagement and recommend corrective actions to senior management.
  • Prepare high-quality explanatory documents, work papers or memoranda and reports in a timely manner for senior management and independent committees.
  • Assess risk (preferably according to ISO 31000) and advising on resolution of regulatory, risk and compliance issues.

Experience and Education:

  • 8+ years working in a compliance governance function, gained in an organization or in-house company with an international footprint.
  • University degree in Law or Compliance preferred (alternatively in Business Administration, Economics or Finance)
  • Experience working with international teams and stakeholders, handling compliance and risk matters relevant to European stakeholders.
  • Have general corporate compliance experience, having an understanding of a variety of matters including sanctions, corruption, fraud, sexual harassment etc.
  • Have the ability to be agile and work in a fast-paced environment. Think flexibly and take a proactive approach to preventing, identifying and resolving issues.
  • Fluency in English is a must and proficiency in either French or German is a plus.
